Amazon.com, Seattle, is rolling out the long-awaited national kickoff campaign for its French site. Havas Advertising-owned Ailleurs Exactement, Paris, began the push with an interactive campaign targeting 50 popular French Web sites. Outdoor quickly followed, touting the wide selection of books, film and music available at amazon.fr. Radio and print come next, but TV ads will remain off-limits until French officials sort out an ongoing flap about opening the airwaves to Internet-based retailers.
