Amazon.com inks $105 mil deal with Drugstore.com

Online pharmacy Drugstore.com, Bellevue, Wash., agreed to pay Amazon.com, Seattle, $105 million over three years to be a featured shopping tab on the Internet e-tailer's site. Amazon also invested an additional $30 million in Drugstore.com, increasing its total stake in the company to 28%. Amazon, which acquired a minority stake in Drugstore.com in 1998, said this is the first time a company in which it has invested will be permanently featured on its site. Amazon has invested in a number a dot-coms, including watch and jewelry e-tailer Ashford.com, Internet grocery service HomeGrocer.com and Pets.com, a site that sells pet supplies.
