America Online and The Gap have signed a three-year e-commerce and marketing agreement to make Gap brands--including Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy--the first major anchor tenants in AOL's new retail venue, Shop@AOL. The agreement gives Gap anchor and other premier placements within each of America Online's new comprehensive e-commerce destinations: Shop@AOL, Shop@AOL.com, Shop@Netscape.com and Shop@CompuServe. Gap's brands will have prominent positions in apparel areas. Gap's newest concept, GapBody, also will be promoted in the lingerie area. The new Shop@AOL marketplace began rolling out to consumers in mid-July; new shopping services will be introduced in October.
