America Online makes several wireless Internet moves, including technology acquisition

America Online acquired iAmaze, a San Francisco Internet technology company specializing in Web-based applications created in DHTML, or "dynamic" HTML. IAmaze creates Web-based applications that enable users to access data using any hardware platform. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Separately, AOL will work with OmniSky Corp., a wireless Internet services provider, to deliver AOL Wireless content and services to handheld devices via OmniSky Wireless Internet services. The agreement enables OmniSky users to access AOL's regular features and content or to select an AOL-customized version of OmniSky's service. AOL is making a minority equity investment in OmniSky. In related news, AOL agreed to allow its AOL Mobile features and content to be delivered to subscribers using mobile services on AT&T Corp.'s Digital PocketNet service. AOL will have top placement in the portals channel of the service.
