American Express will announce a major sports marketing initiative on May 19and it's expected that the credit card company will disclose that it hasinked an endorsement deal with golfing phenom Tiger Woods. Neither Mr.Woods' agent nor company representatives would comment. Deals for Mr. Woodsin the credit card and luxury watch categories have been expected for sometime, adding to an endorsement portfolio anchored by Nike. Rolex is rumoredto be the watch that has inked Mr. Woods. AmEx will most likely work intandem with Mr. Woods' other companies in a cause marketing effort that inpart funds the Tiger Woods Foundation, which seeks to promote the sport ofgolf among minorities, young people and the poor.
