In its push to provide an alternative cable network to communities in the Midwest, Ameritech
Wednesday signed Greendale, Wis., as a franchise. Ameritech plans to invest more than $1 million to build a two-way network that will deliver about 90 channels of video programming to the 15,000 residents of Greendale. Ameritech--which has already signed seven other communities in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio for similar franchises--has an alliance with SBC, BellSouth and GTE to distribute branded programming created in part by their mutual partner, Walt Disney Co.
The programming package is called Americast.
