ANA BOOK DELVES INTO $4.25B WORLD OF EVENT SPONSORSHIP

Association of National Advertisers, New York, last month published "Event Marketing: A Management Guide," its first-ever guide for corporations and property organizers marketing events and sponsorships. The $29.95 guide to the $4.25 billion event sponsorship industry was written by the Event Marketing Committee of the ANA, with input from major U.S. corporations. Promotion Marketing Association of America, New York, last month said its newly appointed Executive Director Richard I. Hersh is unable to assume the position for medical reasons. Past PMAA Chairman and President Thomas M. Hamilton is filling the post temporarily while another search is undertaken for a permanent executive director and chief operating officer.

Council of Sales Promotion Agencies, Stamford, Conn., last month presented its Hall of Fame Award to Vincent Sottosanti for his lifetime contributions to the industry. Mr. Sottosanti, currently exec VP of the council, was awarded the honor for 25 years of international sales promotion industry activities throughout his 33-year career, including his past presidency of CSPA. He's the former chairman-CEO of promotion agencies Comart and Aniforms, and founded Merchandising & Promotion Associates, one of the promotion industry's first agencies.

Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser brand was recently named the first official beer of IndyCar in a three-year agreement that also includes non-alcohol malt beverages. In addition, Budweiser is the official beer of the National Hot Rod Association and hydroplane racing's Unlimited Racing Commission. A-B's Busch brand is the official beer of Nascar.
