ANA fights N.Y. ad ban proposal

The Association of National Advertisers is asking the New York City Council to not rush to ban ads deemed controversial. The council is considering legislation that would ban advertising harmful to minors in the wake of the Calvin Klein jeans ad controversy. The ANA said it opposes ads that are obscene or pornographic but said the proposed ordinance goes further and would create dangerous precedents. Previously the ANA had not taken a stand on the controversy.
