ANA reverses agency membership plan

Published on .

The Association of National Advertisers is expected to announce at its annual meeting next week that it is scrapping its plan to invite agencies as full members. The controversial offer, disclosed at last year's conference, essentially blindsided the American Association of Advertising Agencies and caused some consternation at shops unable or unwilling to pay dues to both. Since then, ANA is said to have considered other face-saving options such as giving associate memberships to agencies. ANA President-CEO John Sarsen could not be reached by press time.
