Andersen vs. Andersen battle

Published on .

Andersen Consulting, citing "breaches of contract and irreconcilable differences," today said it wants an arbitrator to intervene to resolve its ongoing dispute with Arthur Andersen and its parent, Andersen Worldwide. The accounting firm set up a largely autonomous consulting business in 1989, but moves since then by the CPA firm into consulting, and disagreements over revenue sharing, are prompting the consultancy to move toward divorce. Andersen Consulting, via Y&R Advertising, New York, and Arthur Andersen, through Leo Burnett USA, Chicago, both field aggressive ad campaigns. Andersen Consulting said its sister company's marketing has blurred the distinction between the two firms' consulting practices.
