Andersen out at New York

Kurt Andersen is out as editor in chief of New York magazine. He was recruited for the $500,000-a-year job in February 1994 and oversaw a sweeping redesign of the magazine the following year. Top executives at K-III Communications reportedly were disappointed that the multimillion-dollar investment did not yield a major circulation lift. Dick Babcock, editor of K-III's Chicago magazine, will become acting editor while a search for a replacement is conducted.
