Real clothes for real women -- that's the idea behind Anne Klein's new fall line, premiering in a 32-page insert ad in the August edition of Elle.

The $5 million to $6 million print campaign was photographed by Annie Leibovitz.

The "Significant Women" campaign highlights 30 confident women who "don't see themselves typecast by their age, their size or their profession," according to the insert. The women depicted include actress Joan Allen, WNBA basketball player Lisa Leslie, country music singer Reba McEntire and former Texas Gov. Ann Richards.

The advertising also will appear in some magazines in an eight-page or single-page format, with the schedule including Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Mirabella and Vogue.

The new design team of Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco is very "reality based," so Anne Klein's advertising department wanted to create a campaign reflecting that, said Laura Wenke, senior VP-marketing and communication for Anne Klein & Co.

"They were looking for women who had job titles or positions that our customers could relate to -- women who were highly accomplished, had a sense of style and had a pragmatic approach to fashion," Ms. Wenke said.

Art direction for the campaign was provided by Jill Glover Creative Services, New York.
