Antonini quits Chrysler board

Published on .

Joseph Antonini, former Kmart Corp. chairman, resigned from Chrysler Corp.'s board of directors. Kirk Kerkorian's Tracinda Corp., Chrysler's largest shareholder, has been pressuring Mr. Antonini to resign in order to replace him with Kerkorian ally Jerome York. ``I do not want to be an issue in the controversy between Chrysler and Kirk Kerkorian and I believe my decision to leave the board will be in the best interests of both the company and my family,'' Mr. Antonini said in a statement. Chrysler said it is continuing to study the structure of its board and doesn't expect to decide on a replacement for Mr. Antonini before February.
