AOL to buy MovieFone

Published on .

America Online, Dulles, Va., will acquire MovieFone, a movie listing and ticketing service, in an all-stock transaction priced at about $388 million. MovieFone, which serves more than 100 million consumers annually, will be an anchor tenant on the online service provider and will be rebranded as AOL MovieFone. The service will allow consumers review movie listings and purchase tickets online. Separately, Miss Piggy's signature fragrance Moi launched today on the Fragrance Counter on AOL. Consumers can now buy the fragrance, launched in October by the Jim Henson Co., online.
