AOL buys PersonaLogic

America Online, Dulles, Va., purchased PersonaLogic, a privately held company based in San Diego that makes decision-guide software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Using PersonaLogic, users can create preference profiles on Web sites to help them make electronic commerce purchases or decisions about items and subjects ranging from used automobiles to bicycles, mutual funds and colleges. AOL said it will use the software across all its properties, including AOL.Ccom, Digital City and CompuServe. It also said it will continue to sell PersonaLogic's services to search engines and other Web properties.
