AOL Compuserve France taps into everyday life

PARIS--AOL CompuServe France launches a new TV campaign which aims to bring the Internet into the heart of everyday French life. The commercial, created by Euro RSCG BETC, features a young woman who announces her son's birth to her friends and family via AOL. AOL CompuServe France is owned by four shareholders: Telecom group Cegetel and pay-TV broadcaster Canal Plus have 55%, while AOL Inc. and German group Bertelsmann hold 45%. In France, the Internet service provider claims to have around 400,000 subscribers. Worldwide, AOL claims 17 million subscribers and CompuServe two million.
