AOL expands wireless push

America Online, Dulles, Va., anticipating consumers' eagerness to move to wireless Internet devices, is expanding its "AOL Anywhere'' strategy through agreements with wireless data carriers, and device and mobile phone marketers. The new AOL Mobile Messenger Service allows wireless AOL users to access e-mail, financial information, news and other features through a number of wireless and handheld devices including Sprint PCS and Sprint PCS Internet-ready phones; Nokia, in development for a proprietary Nokia application; Motorola wireless devices; Research in Motion, a two-way Internet appliance that will offer AOL Mobile Messenger via a customized AOL-branded RIM handheld device; BellSouth Corp., using BellSouth Intelligent Wireless Network-enabled devices; and Arch Communications, for two-way wireless messaging capabilities.
