AOL still eyeing CompuServe

Published on .

Rumors continue to swirl that America Online is mulling the purchase of all or part of H&R Block's remaining 80 percent stake in rival service CompuServe, but AOL Networks CEO Bob Pittman declined to comment Monday on that matter or on future advertising plans for AOL. AOL replaced its consumer branding messages earlier this year with communications about AOL's efforts to build up its overloaded networks, which is one of CompuServe's strengths. Digital Cities is the city-themed venture launched by AOL and partially backed by Tribune Co.
