AOL hits 3 million mark

Published on .

America Online, Vienna, Va., said its subscriber base hit the 3 million mark, having grown tenfold in the past two years. AOL also streamlined its structure to focus on three operating divisions: AOL Services, headed by Ted Leonsis; AOL Technologies, headed by Mike Connors; and AOL New Enterprises, run by David Cole. The new structure cuts in half the number of executives reporting to AOL President-CEO Steve Case, who said he will spend less time on day-to-day management and more on "strategic matters."
