AOL introduces banking center

America Online launched the AOL Banking Center on Sept. 4 with 19 bank partners to enable home banking services for its members..

Banks offering online transactions include American Express, Bank of America, Bank of Stockton, Centura Bank, Commerce Bancshares, Commercial Federal, Compass Bank, CoreStates Bank N.A, Crestar Bank, First Chicago NBD, Laredo National Bank, M&T, Marquette Bank, Sanwa Bank California, Security First Network Bank, Union Bank of California and Wells Fargo..

Access to the banking center is free on AOL, though banks may charge transaction fees. Intuit BankNOW software will be used by 14 participating banks and can be downloaded free on AOL.
