America Online joined with China.com Corp., a pan-Asian integrated Internet service company, and its affiliate China Internet Corp. (CIC), to launch AOL Hong Kong. AOL Hong Kong, positioned as the region's only full-service provider, offers all AOL features, including Instant Messenger and Buddy List. Separately, AOL announced an extension and expansion of its strategic relationship with CBS MarketWatch, to provide business and financial news across several AOL brands. Under the new three-year agreement, for which Marketwatch.com will provide $21 million in cash and promotion, AOL's 18 million-plus members will be able to benefit from CBS MarketWatch's business and financial news and analysis. Also, AOL will launch its AOL 5.0 software Oct. 5, with enhanced features such as calendar and photoshop.
