AOL launches new messenger service for Internet

America Online has launched the latest version of the AOL Instant Messenger service, AIM version 2.0, an Internet version of AOL's Buddy List service. The service lets Internet users know when their friends come online and allows them to send and respond to private, personalized electronic text messages in real time.
