AOL links up with Office Depot in $44 million alliance

Office retailer Office Depot and America Online agreed to a five-year, strategic marketing alliance valued at more than $44 million. Under the terms of the deal, the companies will develop a co-branded business site. AOL will receive a major presence across all Office Depot sales channels, including retail outlets. Office Depot will also offer AOL software as Office Depot's preferred Internet service offering for narrowband ISP service, and will offer in-store registration to its customers. In addition, Office Depot will promote AOL and its in-store offerings in print and TV ad programs, as well as on its Web site, officedepot.com.
