AOL offers credit card

Published on .

America Online is teaming with First USA to offer the AOL Visa card, which AOL subscribers can use to earn credits toward free time on AOL. The card will provide 1 point for each dollar spent and 2 points for each dollar spent on AOL products. 200 points equals one free hour on AOL; 1,000 points pays for one month of standard connect time (a $9.95 value); and 2,000 points pays for one month of the value plan ($19.95).

Separately, AOL is running a sweepstakes dubbed "What IS it?" to drive traffic into different AOL content areas and encourage users to upgrade to the newest versions of AOL software . Users participate by clicking on a mystery symbol that leads to an AOL content area. Only members who have AOL 3.0 for Windows or 2.7 for Mac will be eligible for the grand prize drawing of $1 million.
