AOL partners with Bell Atlantic for high-speed access

Published on .

America Online signed a partnership with Bell Atlantic to provide high-speed Digital Subscriber Line access to AOL users. As early as this summer, AOL members in Bell Atlantic's service area, where the technology is available, will be able to get Bell Atlantic's Infospeed DSL access as a premium upgrade from AOL. Bell Atlantic said it plans to make DSL technology available to more than 14 million homes by the end of 2000. The broadband service works over normal telephone lines. The upgrade feature is expected to cost up to $20 more a month.
