AOL reassigns 300 staffers

America Online, Dulles, Va., began the process of reassigning employees to work within the three divisions which it announced in late October as part of a broad company restructuring.

About 300 of the company's 6,000 employees were effected this week by restructuring-related reassignments, a spokeswoman said. The moves reflect the company's plans to shutter its GNN facilities in Berkeley, Calif., and a small publishing facility in Vero Beach, Fla.

Separately, the service reached the 7 million subscriber mark this week. AOL pledged earlier this year to hit the 10 million mark by the end of summer 1997, although it recently said it would scale back marketing .
