AOL reports net income of $39 million

America Online reported net income of $39 million, or 16 cents per share, for the quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $4.7 million, or 2 cents per share, for the same quarter last year. Revenues for the quarter were $693.6 million, up 54% from the same period a year ago.

In separate news, AOL said it would acquire NetChannel, a Web-based personalized TV company.
