AOL sends a message

Published on .

America Online is expanding its Instant Message capability to allow any Internet user to send instant messages to anyone online. Previously, both sides had to be AOL users to participate. The system is in limited test for Windows 95 operating systems only. Excite recently launched a similar feature on its Web site.

Separately, Charlie Fink was named senior VP-chief creative officer, Greenhouse Networks division of AOL Studios, from VP-creative affairs.
