AOL signs up Saks, launches luxury category

America Online has opened a luxury shopping area on its Shop@AOL service, signing up more shopping partners including upscale retailer Saks. The category will feature high-end goods and jewelry. The online affiliate of Time Warner's InStyle magazine, InStyle.com, will offer commentary, style trends and purchase suggestions for the new area, and items featured on the site will be available for purchase on Shop@AOL. Saks is the leading merchant partner in the new luxury shopping area. The site also will have broad placement in AOL's Style & Fashion, Beauty & Accessories, and Jewelry & Gifts categories. AOL also struck a pact with BestSelections, an e-commerce company that connects upscale shoppers with merchants, to incorporate the company into the jewelry and gifts category within the luxury shops area, as well as feature placement in nine other shopping categories.
