Continuing its acquisition spree, America Online
this week agreed to scoop up Global Network Navigator from O'Reilly & Associates for $11 million in cash and stock. AOL also acquired the WebCrawler search tool and said it plans to offer a separate branded Internet-access service. The Internet service will be unveiled in August and will be built around Global Network Navigator, a commercial publishing site that claims more than 180,000 registered subscribers.
honors Loyola students' campaign
Loyola University, New Orleans, won the 1995 American Advertising Federation World Series of Advertising with a campaign themed, "Taking you places" for sponsor Chrysler Corp.'s Neon. Students from more than 125 colleges and universities competed. Next year's sponsor will be the American Red Cross, the first time the contest has had a non-profit sponsor.
