(June 29, 2001) -- AOL Time Warner's America Online and AT&T Corp. announced an extensive alliance covering a number of wireless and marketing initiatives.

Among the projects the two companies plan to undertake are an AOL/AT&T Wireless mobile service that will integrate some portions of AOL into a customized version of AT&T Wireless phones. The features that will be part of the service include e-mail, instant messaging and some content.

The alliance also calls for expanded marketing of AT&T Wireless products on both online and offline properties of AOL Time Warner. The companies said they expect the service to launch during the first half of next year. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. -- Catharine P. Taylor
