AOL Time Warner makes new appointments

Several new appointments were made under the newly merged AOL Time Warner. Ray Oglethorpe, previously president of AOL Technologies, was named president of America Online; Jan Brandt, formerly president of marketing, was named vice chair and chief marketing officer; Ted Leonsis, previously president of the Interactive Properties Group, was named vice chair and new product officer. Other promotions include Jonathan Sacks, previously senior VP-general manager of the AOL service, has been named president of AOL, overseeing the AOL flagship service. Audrey Weil, previously senior VP- general manager of CompuServe, has been named president of CompuServe. Donn Davis, formerly chief operating officer of the Interactive Properties Group, has been named president of the Interactive Properties Group, overseeing the local services, AOL Moviefone, DCI and MapQuest, and the instant messaging services AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ.

Myer Berlow, previously president of Interactive Marketing, has become president of Worldwide Interactive Marketing, overseeing the company's global advertising, commerce and partner relationships.

Earlier this week, AOL had named Jim Bankoff, formerly VP-strategy and operations for the AOL brand, president of Netscape. Mr. Bankoff will oversee business operations and manage, as well as the Netbusiness initiative, the company's small business destination. Mr. Bankoff is taking over the duties of Jim Martin, senior VP-general manager of Netscape, who will continue to serve America Online, in a new assignment.
