AOL turns AT&T down

AT&T Corp. was reportedly rejected last week in a bid to buy America Online, in a deal that would have combined the world's largest telephone company with the largest online service provider. Both stocks jumped on the information after a newspaper report initially revealed the deal. Neither AT&T nor AOL would comment.
