AOL, New York Times re-up relationship

Published on .

America Online, Vienna, Va., said The New York Times would extend its presence on the service for another year and would consider joint interactive programming and sponsorships. The Times, which is slated to go live with its own World Wide Web site next month, has had a presence on AOL since June 1994 and recently redesigned its area. New features include news available for 48 hours, an arts and entertainment guide and searchable real estate, help wanted and automotive classifieds.

Separately, AOL announced five new retail partners in its Marketplace area: Online Interactive's atOnce Software; Caffe Starbucks; Lens Express; Lillian Vernon; and Paul Fredrick MenStyle. Additionally, nine partners in 2Market Live (AOL's combo online/CD-ROM shopping service) expand their relationship with AOL to the Marketplace. Those companies include Celebration Fantastic; Chef's Catalog; Eddie Bauer; FAO Schwarz; Fossil Watches; Godiva Chocolatier; Hammacher-Schlemmer; The Nature Company; and The Sharper Image.
