Apple unveils new product strategy

Apple Computer today announced its renewed push for the consumer and educational markets with several new product lines. In August Apple plans to roll out an all-in-one Internet-ready computer called the iMac. Unlike many of the low-cost network computers this will be a fully functional stand-alone machine priced at more than $1,000. Apple also announced a line of Powerbooks featuring their G3 processor and a new online store targeted to the education market.

In related news personal finance software maker Intuit earlier this week reversed its position and announced it would continue to develop applications for the Macintosh platform.
