(March 28, 2001) -- The American Legacy Foundation will air an April Fools' Day spot this weekend that presents a tobacco industry executive saying the industry is pulling all cigarettes until it can prove tobacco is healthy. The spot ends with the words "April fools" and a teaser to the Web site thetruth.com, though it never identifies the foundation as the ad's sponsor. Havas Advertising's Arnold Worldwide and Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Miami, are the foundation's agencies. The foundation was formed as part of an agreement between state attorneys general and tobacco companies settling state tobacco lawsuits. -- Ira Teinowitz
