Arnold Worldwide captured Best of Show for a Volkswagen of America print campaign dubbed "Foot, Hand and Hair" at the International Automotive Advertising Awards, held Jan. 10 in Royal Oak, Mich. Arnold was the most honored agency of the evening, with a total of four gold and 35 silvers for its VW work.

The judges were stingy with golds, awarding only 14. Team One, El Segundo, Calif., went home with seven golds for its Lexus work. Among the other gold winners: BMP DDB, London, for a European VW TV spot called "Heaven;" Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, for Web work on the upcoming Saturn Vue sport utility; TBWA/Chiat/Day, Marina Del Rey, Calif., for a Nissan print ad honoring the late golf pro Payne Stewart; and Critical Mass, Calgary, Alberta, for a Mercedes-Benz Web promotion as part of the new C-Class launch.

The agencies of Detroit carmakers generally fared poorly, although Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich., took home four silvers for its Batman ads for General Motors Corp.' OnStar Division.
