HONG KONG--Time Inc. Asia has named Peter Brack publisher and managing editor of Asiaweek, effective April 19. Mr. Brack joins the Hong Kong-based weekly from Turner Broadcasting, where he was VP-sales for the Southeast Asia/Australian region, based in Singapore. He recently assumed responsibility for Turner's interactive sales.

Earlier this month Jack Maisano, president of Asiaweek for the last four years, announced he was leaving the magazine this summer to return to the U.S. after 25 years in Asia.

"Peter brings to this job a commitment to the region and a first-rate understanding of our advertising customers in this part of the world and the key role that independent, authoritative journalism plays," says John Marcom, president of Time Inc. Asia. "His background in television and interactive media brings to Asiaweek an edge that other magazines will soon wish they had, and will contribute to the collaboration between Time and Turner."

Mr. Brack joined Turner Broadcasting System full time in 1993 as one of the first six employees in Turner's Hong Kong Asian headquarters.

Launched in 1995, Asiaweek has a circulation of 128,000 and covers politics, business and culture.
