ATT card protected online

Published on .

AT&T Tuesday announced that customers of its WorldNet Service, an Internet access service to launch this spring, can receive financial liability protection for online purchases if they charge their service to the AT&T Universal Card. "We believe that business will grow on the Internet once our customers are comfortable using their credit cards online," said Tom Evslin, VP-AT&T Gateway Services, Bridgewater, N.J. "Encryption doesn't give customers peace of mind and it alone doesn't give businesses the confidence to bring their customers online; a guarantee from AT&T will." AT&T Universal Card will promote the WorldNet Service to its 25 million cardmembers. Additionally, the company will market the offering to its existing long-distance customer base of 90 million.
