AUSSIE RADIO STATION SERVES GAYS

Published on .

SYDNEY-2Gay-FM, Australia's first gay radio station, begins transmission this month, directed at a large gay and lesbian community. The station is a joint venture between John Singleton, chairman of John Singleton Advertising, and Barrie Unsworth, general manager of Sydney's 2KY-AM and a former premier of New South Wales.

Gay newspaper Sydney Star Observer reports gay and lesbian couples here have an average dual disposable annual income exceeding $53,000. Mr. Singleton said 2Gay-FM will also target straight listeners.
