Mr. Hearn, most recently CEO of Goodman Fielder Ltd., an Australian food brand manufacturer, will be based in New York, where Bates Worldwide is headquartered. He will report directly to Michael Bungey, CEO of Cordiant.
The move is one of a number of management appointments Cordiant made.

In addition to their existing titles, Messrs. Whitehead, Smith and Hoare each become a regional president of Bates Worldwide. Mr. Whitehead is regional president, Bates Americas; Mr. Smith is regional president, Asia Pacific, and Mr. Hoare is regional president, Bates Europe.
Finally, Jean de Ytrube, formerly chairman of Bates Europe, becomes deputy president of Cordiant, responsible for multinational client development.
Mr. Hearn will also take a seat on Cordiant's board, while Messrs. Whitehead and Smith will resign their board seats.
Changes on board
During his career, Mr. Hearn has held management positions with such global marketers as Procter & Gamble Co., Del Monte, and PepsiCo.
