Avenue A wins $3 mil Ticketmaster account

Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch named Avenue A, Seattle, its interactive agency of record. Avenue A will develop a $3.25 million online ad campaign for the online ticketing and city guides network. It also will track the effectiveness of the ad campaign. The ticket retailer/city guide network last week agreed to acquire Microsoft Network's Sidewalk city guides in all-stock deal valued at $240 million. Under the terms of the deal, Microsoft will sell the entertainment city guide portion of MSN Sidewalk to Ticketmaster for a 9% stake that could go as high as 13% if Microsoft exercises warrants.

Microsoft said, with the sale of Sidewalk city guides, it would focus its efforts on MSN commerce. Microsoft also plans to build out MSN Yellow Pages, MSN Buying Guides as well as MSN shopping services.
