Current sales in Brazil of $1.2bn are directly attributed to the company's return to advertising: in 1993, it appointed ad agency Dualibi Petit Zaragoza Sao Paulo.This year, investment in advertising will be $15m.
"Global marketing is our strategy, with local attention to product development and research", says Andrea Yung, corporate vice-president and global marketing president for Avon.
All products launched in the U.S., such as "Renew C", introduced last year, have been launched almost simultaneously in Brazil. Sales in the U.S. are still two and a half times the size of those in Brazil, however.
