Back to school shoppers head for the Web

Published on .

Back-to-school shoppers are heading to the Web, according to a study from NPD Group and Media Metrix. The report concluded 90% of parents of students and college students with Web access plan to do some back-to-school shopping and purchasing this year. Among these consumers, more than a quarter have shopped or plan to shop on the Internet this year, the report said.

The report gathered data from 6,752 surveys completed by parents of students returning to school this fall and 2,578 surveys completed by college students in NPD's Online panel.
