Bannerstake comes down

Web sites are no longer available, according to a posting on the company's Web site. Thomson & Thomson, which provides screening for trademarks and domain names, offered no further explanations on the Bannerstake.com site. The company did not return calls by press time.

Namestake was an online service to search domain names online; it gave some preliminary information away for free, and charged for detailed reports. Bannerstake was a free site that tracked what banners appeared on select search engines when users plugged in popular and brand name key words.
