Bartle Bogle Hegarty wins $100 mil Ericsson acc't

Bartle Bogle Hegarty won the $100 million Ericsson account, according to executives. They beat out Abbot Mead & Vickers BBDO London, TBWA London and New York, and incumbent Young & Rubicam, New York and London. The global business will be handled out of Bartle Bogle Hegarty's offices in London, New York and Singapore. Y&R's The Media Edge still handles the media buying and planning for Ericsson and Impiric retains the direct marketing account. BBH and Ericsson declined to confirm the decision.

The win is a tremendous boost for the New York office, which also recently picked up the $50 million World Gold Council account. In that review, the agency bested Wieden & Kennedy, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Publicis, DDB and Messner Vetere McNamee Schemetterer/Euro RSCG, all in New York.

BBH USA is still searching for a creative director to replace Ty Montague, who departed last year for Wieden & Kennedy. "We've narrowed the list of candidates considerably," said Cindy Gallop, president of BBH USA.
