Bates buys travel ad shop

Bates USA, New York, acquired Criterion Group, Atlanta, a specialist in travel advertising with $24 million in billings from clients including Resorts Condominium International, Shell Vacations, ITT Sheraton and Disney Vacation Club. Terms were not disclosed. Criterion will become part of Bates Travel & Tourism, Indianapolis. Criterion President-CEO William J. McGregor was named president of Bates Travel & Tourism and will report to Dan Roman, chairman of Bates USA Midwest, Indianapolis.
