Bates walks away from Foot Locker

Published on .

Bates USA, New York, resigned the $25 million Foot Locker account, claiming "philosophical, management and compensation differences with the client that could not be resolved." Bates officials were said to be unhappy with the agency's stagnant compensation from the retailer, which had seen sharp sales increases in the last year. Foot Locker had acknowledged in early summer that it was talking to other agencies as part of an "assessment" of its account, but it was not conducting a review at the time.
