BBC World takes control of ad sales in Europe

Published on .

LONDON--BBC World is to create its own sales operation across Europe, in line with its global strategy of taking direct control of all areas of its business.

Previously, ad sales and sponsorship were handled in Europe under contract by IP Network-TSMS. Earlier this year, BBC World ended its relationship for the sale of airtime with STAR TV in Asia.

Jonathan Howlett, director of airtime sales, and a team of account directors in London, will now take direct control of the European business. Mr. Howlett says additional appointments will also be made.

BBC World, the BBC's 24-hour international news and information TV channel, is available in nearly 60 million homes in 187 territories around the world.
