Previously, ad sales and sponsorship were handled in Europe under contract by IP Network-TSMS. Earlier this year, BBC World ended its relationship for the sale of airtime with STAR TV in Asia.
Jonathan Howlett, director of airtime sales, and a team of account directors in London, will now take direct control of the European business. Mr. Howlett says additional appointments will also be made.
BBC World, the BBC's 24-hour international news and information TV channel, is available in nearly 60 million homes in 187 territories around the world.
