Move Follows Loss of Allied Domecq Account

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- The other shoe finally dropped for BBDO Worldwide staffers in the wake of distiller Allied Domecq's defection from the Omnicom Group agency.

the Chicago-based agency cut seven employees across levels and departments, accounting for roughly 4% of its 165 head count.

The agency will finish its work on the account, which included Stolichnaya vodka and Citrona malt beverage, Beefeater gin and Kahlua liqueur brands, through the end of August.

Allied last month said after parting with BBDO that it had started to focus more on promotions and non-traditional advertising and less on branding, which the marketer added was BBDO's strong suit. It is not known where Allied will move the account.
